The GSG-16 .22LR MP5 Clone: No Fuss, No Muss

The GSG-16 by German Sport Guns is a semi-automatic rifle designed for sporting and recreational use. It is a compact MP5-style rifle that features a polymer receiver and a collapsible stock. The rifle is chambered in .22 LR, making it an excellent choice for target shooting and small game hunting (longer barrel version recommended)

The GSG-16 is a lightweight rifle, weighing in at just 5.84 pounds unloaded. Its overall length is 34.25 inches when fully extended, and 28.5 inches when the stock is collapsed. The rifle features a 9-inch barrel and an overall height of 10.5 inches. This version I have came with a minimalist AR=15 stock, you could swap this out for anything you like that’ll fit on a standard tube.

One of the standout features of the GSG-16 is its magazine capacity. The rifle comes with a 22-round magazine, which is larger than many other .22 LR rifles on the market. This allows shooters to spend more time shooting and less time reloading. Not to mention there’s also an aftermarket 110 round drum mag available. 

The GSG-16 is designed to be customizable, with a variety of accessories and modifications available. The rifle comes with a Picatinny rail on all four sides of the receiver, which allows shooters to attach a variety of optics and sights. The rifle also has a number of other attachment points for accessories such as flashlights, red dots, straps, and more. I’ve changed the hand guard on mine, chopped the muzzle device, and intend on more changes soon.

The GSG-16 also features a number of ergonomic features that make it comfortable and easy to shoot. The rifle has an adjustable stock, which can be extended or collapsed to fit the shooter’s body. The rifle has a maximum effective range of around 100 yards, making it suitable for a wide range of shooting activities, but because of it’s compact barrel, it’s best suited for short range plinking fun.
